Zhangjiajie Forest National Park

Zhangjiajie Forest National ParkZhangjiajie Forest National Park is located in the south of Wulingyuan Scenic Area, covering an area of 130 square kilometers. The park was established to be the first forest national park in China in 1982. Together with the Suoxi Valley, Tianzi Mountain and Yangjiazhai Scenic Ranges, they compose of the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, which was listed in the World Heritage Directory by UNESCO and became a world-famous heritage in 1992. Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is famous for its queer rocks.

Over thousands peaks are in various forms. It is well-known for springs between stones, streams along valleys and waterfalls on precipices.

Tianzi Mountain

Tianzi MountainThe mountain's name came from the fact that Xiang Dakun, the man who led the local farmers' revolt called himself Tianzi---the Son of Heaven after the revolt.

Surrounded by Suoxi Valley on the east, Zhangjiajie on the south, Sangzhi County on the north, Tianzi Mountain is one of the four scenic zones in Wulingyuan. It lies on the highest point of "Golden Triangle" with an area of 67 square kilometers.

The landscape in Tianzi Mountain is natural and primeval. There is nothing artificial in the area.

Suoxiyu Valley

Suoxiyu ValleySuoxiyu Valley is the center of Wulingyuan scenic zone, strecthing an area of more than 180 square kilometers and is the largest of the three zones.

The mountain here is mainly composed of sandstone peaks as that in Zhangjiajie and Tianzi Mountain.

In the east of the valley, there is a collection of caves, namely, Yellow Dragon Cave, Goddess Cave, etc., which are made of limestone. Referred to wild lives, Suoxiyu Valley boasts more than 20 rare species, such as leopards, pangolins, and giant salamanders.

Yellow Dragon Cave

Located in the east of Suoxiyu Valley, Yellow Dragon Cave has long enjoyed the reputation of "underground magic palace". In the cave, we can see "cave beyond cave, tower beyond tower, sky beyond sky and mountain beyond mountain". Entering the cave, you will feel you are in a fairyland, beautiful and tranquil.
