Itinerary:
Day 1. Beijing Arrival
Arrive in Beijing, the capital of People's Republic of China. Meet your guide and transfer to four star hotel.
Day 2. Beijing (B. L)
Pick you up your hotel in the morning. A full day excursion starts with the Tian An Men Square and the Forbidden City. Tian An Men Square is the world's largest palace complex and covers 74 hectares. The Forbidden City was the home of the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties, a period extending over 500 years. After lunch at a carefully-selected local restaurant, you will continue to visit the Summer Palace, the best preserved and the second largest royal garden in China, with a history of over 800 years. In 1998, it was listed as one of the World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. In the late afternoon, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
Day 3. Beijing (B. L)
Enjoy a full day to visit to Ming Tombs (50 miles away from downtown about one hour driving). The thirteen Ming Tombs are the best-preserved Chinese imperial tombs with 500 years history. You will visit Changling, the head and the largest tomb of Ming Tombs, where Emperor Yongle (the first emperor in Beijing) and his Empress Xu were buried. The sightseeing on the Ming Tombs takes about 1 hour. The visit to Ming Tombs finishes at about 10:45.
Before having lunch (11:30 am), you will have 45 minutes for a short visit of Jade Carving Factory. The jade carving is a famous special Chinese product, a blend of the excellent skill on carving and Chinese traditional cultures.
After lunch, driving to the Badaling Great Wall. The hike on Badaling Great Wall takes 2 hours. Badaling section is the most famous and best-preserved wall. Its highest point at Badaling is some 800 meters above sea level. Cable car is available and optional.
Day 4. Being / Xi'an (B, L)
In the morning, You will be arranged to have lunch with locals in a typical Beijing resident's house. Then you will be arranged to visit the old Beijing lanes by taking rickshaws. During Hutongs tour, you will visit the typical Chinese quadrangles, primary school, many famous old buildings, like the bell tower, where you can explore the real life of ordinary people in Beijing
At noon, enjoy the homemade lunch at local Hutongs family. If you are interested in, learn the local home cooking with the host/hostess. While eating the meal, listen to the ancient stories about the family.
And then go to the Beijing Capital Museum. It has fully adopted internationally advanced technology in its construction and ranks among the best in China. With its imposing building, abundant exhibitions, high technology and advanced services, it has placed itself in the world a leading position. Cultural relics unearthed in Beijing are its main items on display, which bear forceful Beijing features.
After visiting, take a private transfer to Beijing Train Station to take your overnight soft sleeper train to Xi'an. This will offer you a chance to experience China train tour and get more close to local Chinese people.
Day 5. Xian (B, L)
Upon arrival, the local guide will meet you at Xi'an Train Station. Morning visit to the Shaanxi History Museum. Here you can learn China's culture and history by the dynasties order. It is one of the first huge state museums with modern facilities in China. The museum houses over 300,000 items including murals, paintings, pottery, coins, as well as bronze, gold, and silver objects.
Then take a visit to Great Mosque, which possesses much Chinese tradition in both its design and its artistic outlook. Different from the style peculiar to Islamic mosques, this mosque also has characteristics of Chinese pavilions, with painted beams and engraved ridgepoles. Here you will spend about one hour for a short visit of Ceramics Factory. It is a well-known Chinese product, an marvelous skill on ceramics and Chinese traditional cultures.
Take a taste of real local snacks at Moslem Street and appreciate the cooking process of the delicious dishes. Learn some cooking methods if you are interested for free.
Appreciate the evening musicalfountain show at Big Wild Goose Pagoda Square, the biggest scale one in Asia.
Day 6. Xian / Shanghai (B, L)
Full day enjoy the visit to Terra Cotta Army Museum, buried underground to protect the afterlife of Emperor Qinshihuang from 2200 years ago. There are more than 8,000 life-size terra cotta figures of soldiers and horses excavated from this area. They are all displayed in the practical battle formation in 3 pits respectively. The Terra Cotta Army is now regarded as the Eighth Wonder of the World. And the children have the chance tomake their own cottas in the factory. followed by a wander on the famous Shuyuanmen Culture Street to appreciate the delicate traditional art crafts.
Then take a private transfer to Xi'an Airport to catch your flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival, the local guide will meet you at Shanghai Airport and transfer you to your hotel for a rest.
Day 7. Shanghai (B, L)
Morning step into the Yuyuan Garden for a taste of old Shanghai, Ming style gardens, with pavilions, streams, and pools. Don't miss the huge Dragon Wall (the dragon is protecting the garden), red fish swimming in the Lotus Pool, or the zig-zag Bridge of Nine Turns – the zig-zags foil the demons (who don't turn corners very well). The bazaar has tourist shops where you can buy silk umbrellas, calligraphy, Chinese toys, paper dragons, embroidery.
Then you will visit the Shanghai Museum, one of the best in China, to learn the history of this city. As a museum of ancient Chinese art, Shanghai Museum possesses a collection of 120,000 precious works of art. Its rich and high-quality collection of ancient Chinese bronze, ceramics, painting and calligraphy is specially celebrated in the world. Then a short time about one hour for Silk Factory for learning the history and making skills of silk in China.
Take a walk on the Bund, the wide promenade along the Huangpu river. Kids can watch the ships go by on the river, boats large and small, barges and ferries (there are telescopes for closer views). Just imagine the Bund a century ago, teeming with junks and sampans, loading and unloading at the wharves.
Day 8. Shanghai (B)
According to your flight schedule, the guide will meet you at hotel at appointed time. Take a private transfer to Airport for your flight back home. Your trip ends with lifetime unforgettable memory.
