Itinerary
Day 1: Tianjin Xingang Port – Beijing by road
Pick up from Tianjin Xingang Port according to the cruise arrival time. Drive about 3.5hrs to the less touristy Mutianyu Great Wall that is one of the best-preserved and best-known Great Wall sections. The Great Wall at Mutianyu section has breath-taking scenery but fewer tourists, where watchtowers are tensely distributed. It requires a little more physical capability for the climbing. However cable car (optional cost: CNY120/US$18 pp) is available here to provide you a more comfortable and easier time. You will have a free walk on the wall after the guide’s informative presentation on the history and culture of the Great Wall. Afterwards, if time permits, you will also enjoy a short free time at the Olympic Park for photos (including Bird’s Nest and Water Cube) OR at the 798 Art Gallery that now is an area almost exclusively dedicated to art galleries, design shops and western-style cafes. Transfer to your hotel (near city center) after the day tour. Relax and free evening at your own.
Day 2: Beijing – Tianjin Port by road
Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel. Meet your guide in the lobby and transfer to the Temple of Heaven Park where you will see the local people doing their morning exercises, like Taiji boxing, table tennis, dancing, jogging, shuttlecock kicking, etc. Wanna a try? Following that you will continue to visit the Temple of Heaven, an outstanding example of religious architecture dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties and where the emperors prayed for good harvest. Then ahead for the Tiananmen Square, the largest square in the world and a significant symbol of China’s more recent history. Forbidden City, which is also known as the Palace Museum, was where 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties lived. It was off-limits to ordinary citizens and is the biggest and best-preserved cluster of ancient buildings in China. You will be left some time for your own lunch. The other visits (entrance tickets at your own) can be flexibly arranged according to your time availability. After the tour transfer back to Tianjin Xingang Port 2 hour before your cruise departure time.
