Xinhao Hill Guest House

Originally built in 1906, this 30-meter-high four-storied building of typical German Castle style is situated in Xinhaoshan Hill Park. It is architecture of a classic German castle. The delicate shape, splendid ornaments, graceful lines and bold colors make the Guest House one of the best examples of monomeric villas in China. Originally, it was the official residence of the German governor in Qingdao and was called "the Governor's Official Residence". In 1934, it was formally renamed "Guest House", and has become important as a retreat to receive VIPs in military affairs and politics.
