Jingzhou Location

Jingzhou is a city in Hubei Province. This city of 6.3 million people is located on the middle reaches of the Yangtze River in the Jianghan Plain, with Wuhan City on its east and the Three Gorges area on its west. The population is made up of Han, Hui, Manchu, Tujia, and Miao groups.

Jingzhou History

Jingzhou is an ancient city with a history of more than 2,600 years. It was the capital of 20 kings during the 411 years of the State of Chu of the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States period of the Zhou Dynasty. Jingzhou City has been a transportation hub and distribution center since ancient times. It was once known as the "passageway to seven provinces."

Jingzhou has long enjoyed the reputation as "a rare complete ancient city in south China." The old part of the city remains virtually untouched and has been protected very well. Rich water resources also enable the city to have a perfect biological environment and splendid scenery.

The main attractions include five ruined cities of the State of Chu, 73 sites of the Chu civilization, more than 800 ancient tombs and an abundant of museums.

The land in the city is higher on the west and lower on the east and densely covered by a network of waterways and lakes, with winding rivers in the surrounding area.
