I used China Connection Tours to arrange a private tour for myself and three children for a day in Shanghai. I found a few travel agents via the web and CCT offered a good program, competetive price. We were picked up at the cruise terminal by driver and guide. Thr tour guide's English was okay and he was very flexible on timing and good with the kids.
We visited the Shanghai Zoo first. Traveling on the roads in Shanghai is a bit of nightmare because of the amount of traffic, but our driver was good and we always felt safe in the van. The zoo was interesting and we opted to stay at the zoo longer, so we missed the opportunity to see some other sites. A bit disappointing, but it was our choice. We then went to central Shanghai, ate dinner and went to a Chinese acrobat performance.
We were dropped at the airport with plenty of time to catch our 1 am flight. It was a long day, but overall a very good glimpse at Shanghai. Karen (travel coordinator) was responded quickly and checked up on us to be sure that everything went smoothly. We would recommend using CCT for travelling in China.
