Beihai was one of the first cities on the coast opened to the outside world in the early 1980's. It has become an important transportation center both locally and internationally, and serves as a connecting point between eastern and western China. A complete transportation system, air, rail, and highway, is available in Beihai.
Airplane
The airport was completed in 1987 and is one of the largest in Guangxi Province. It is 24km from the city proper. It has about 100 national and international flights to over 20 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.
Train
There is a direct train between Beihai and Nanning, the capital city of Guangxi Province.
Boat
The Beihai port links the city and over 98 cities and districts. The nearest port is Haikou. The boat leaves in the early morning at about 8 or 8:30 am.
Road
Highway conditions in Beihai are good. The expressway links Beihai to Nanning, Chongqing and other cities. There are four bus stations in the city, which makes it very convenient to travel by coach or bus.
Taxi
There are a large number of taxies in the city. Fees vary depending on the size of the vehicle.
