Baihua Lake is situated about 22 kilometers northwest of Guiyang, whose surface of studded with 110 isles of varying sizes and shapes; where wooded islands surround this clear fresh water lake. It covers an area of 13.5 square kilometers. The wooded island is a sanctuary to a variety of species of birds like bitters ospreys, teals, etc. To the south of the lake stands an ethnic village, which is formerly a site of an ancient battleground with remains of ancient city gate ruin and road. Next to the village is a lake bay with a beautiful name, called the Moon Bay. To the southeast of the lake is a small town called Zhuchang, which is an ancient town famous for its traditional Chinese buildings and wine; it may take you back to the remote past. The east part of the lake is a natural habitat for egrets, lake gulls, wild ducks and mandarin ducks that perch there throughout the year.
